ALIEN TRESPASS - have you seen this movie? It stars Eric McCormack and Robert Patrick and was a helluva a lot of fun. With some tongue-in-cheek action and script, this is a throwback to the 50's sci-fi flicks and is well worth checking out. Have fun with it. I think I'm going to show it on our big screen in the back yard this summer, pop up some corn, and show the family and friends. It's that kind of fun :-)

ZOMBIELAND - I haven't had a chance to mention this flick before, but my son and I saw this in the theatre couple of months back. During the movie I kept noticing things.. like this may be in Georgia. Duh.. the whole thing was practically filmed here. And right after the movie, my son and I went 4 miles to a now defunct grocery store that was used in the movie!! I should know it well.. I shop at Kroger across the street from it weekly. Weird. I stopped into the pizza joint next door to this old grocery and asked about the filming: "Oh yeah, we all took pictures with Woody Harrelson and the cast." Folks, this is 3 miles from my house. I had no idea!! LOL! The movie is GREAT! See it.. you'll have a blast.

AVATAR? I realize most of you have probably seen this movie by now.. but here's my 2 1/2 cents worth anyway. Some of the most fun I've had watching and interacting with a movie in years. Yes, we saw it on the big IMAX in 3-D. If you can see it like that, do. However most places have it in 3-D and I definitely reccomend seeing it in 3-D. They did a great job with it. I'm going to see it again!

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, Heath Ledger's last movie and directed by none other than Terry Gilliam. Again, lots of fun and inventive. I can't wait to see it again actually. Gilliam's work is always interesting and you have to pay attention to catch it all. With guests filling in after Ledger passed away, such as Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Ferrell, it worked like a charm. Good job all the way around. It's a shame about Heath Ledger, but his movie is fun.

Yes, yes, I know.. lots of movie reviews.. actually I've been meaning to discuss some of these for awhile and I just haven't gotten around to it. So this is the "movie view" edition of the Overlook newsletter this time 'round. Lot's of great books below and lots more coming. I'll be taking some down time next week in Florida (had 3 inches of snow in Atlanta last night.. rare for us) for a few days, but I'll be checking e-mail.
